There are many ways to show possession or that something belongs to a person or a thing.

1. Possessive Pronouns (e.g. mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs)

Compound Words

Compound words are words that are made up of two or more words.

For example: butter + fly = butterfly.

Here is an activity for you to try out.

Connectors that tell 'when'

Some connectors that tell the time are "as", "while", "when", "since"

A. Same-time events (when, while)

1. "when" introduces an activity that
a) is a short interruption,
b) occurs immediately after another activity.

E.g. When the bell rang, the pupils lined up for recess.

2. "while" introduces an activity:
a) of longer duration
b) that occurs during or at the same time as another activity.

E.g. While he was talking on the phone, he was scribbling on a piece of paper.

In the above example, "talking" is an activity of longer duration.

B. Since
The connector "since" shows "from that to this moment"

E.g. I have known John since Kindergarten.
